Thanksgiving Day Parade (2014)
I was hired by Charlotte Center City Partners to photograph the 2014 Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade held in Charlotte, NC. It was a beautiful chilly morning and the streets were buzzing with gathered crowds as far as the eye could see. It was truly a spectacle but let me tell you about MY experience before you go through these photos. You'll get a good laugh!
The parade was set to start at 9:30a and I was there around 8:00a to shoot some staging and get my bearings. It was chilly so I was bundled up with a long coat and had on my favorite pair of denim jeans. Around 9:00a as I was making my way to the performance area where I would ultimately be shooting, I had to cross under some border tape they had set out to keep people from crossing the street. As soon as I crouched down to go under I hear RRRRIIIIIIPPPPP!!!!!!
The crotch of my pants decided that was the moment it wanted to give way and practically disintegrate. Luckily while standing my long coat fell far enough to cover but keep in mind as you look through these photos that MOST were taken from a crouching position, which revealed to every marcher, performer, news camera, other photographer, and hundreds of onlookers my clover-stamped Lucky brand boxer briefs. For 2 and a half hours. And there wasn't a thing I could do but my job.
Enjoy!
